Chhattisgarh state came into existence separately on 1 November 2000. After Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district came into existence on 10 February 2020, the number of districts in Chhattisgarh has increased to 28. On 17 April 2022, 5 more new districts were created in Chhattisgarh, namely Mohla Manpur Chowki, Sakti, Sarangarh, Manendragarh – Chirimiri – Bharatpur and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai. Now in this way the total number of districts in Chhattisgarh (28+5) has increased to 33..Remaining districts of Chhattisgarh state are as follows:- Raipur, Dhamtari, Balodabazar, Gariaband, Bemetara, Balod, Mungeli, Surajpur, Balrampur, Sukma, Kondagaon Mahasamund, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Jashpur, Ambikapur and Korea. . In the month of April 2007, Bijapur was formed by separating it from Jagdalpur and Narayanpur and Dantewada.Similarly, 9 new districts were formed in the month of January 2012. In this, Bastar, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, Sukma, Surajpur, Balrampur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Surguja, Korea, Korba and Jashpur completely come under the tribal sub-plan area. There are a total of 146 development blocks in the state, out of which the number of tribal development blocks is 85.
